Roger's Theme

"Roger's Theme" was written as a simple and poignant song for a friend with cerebral palsy. It is a daily and constant struggle to remain positive in the face of such a difficult affliction, but Roger makes the best of every day and lives every day with energy and determination. This piece reflects the beauty and struggle, the joy and pain of counting each day as blessed. Classical guitar and simple piano.

We Will All Be Changed

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 tells us, "Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the very last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised impershiable, and we shall be changed." This is a song of hope, a song of looking into the future. Building towards the moment when we will be changed. Guitar-driven and atmosphere, this piece is in two distinct but connected pieces: the first half is slow and steady, and the second half begins joyfully and builds to a crescendo in the moment where we will all be changed.

The Red Cabinet

Sparse, simple, and slow, "The Red Cabinet" has a much more classical feel than other library pieces. It is almost a simple lullaby, relying heavily on Major 7th chords and a soft Rhodes to create a melancholy atmosphere. A very singable melody, piano-driven.

Genesis

"Genesis" is the sound of something being formed from nothing. From chaos, things being to slowly take shape. Patterns emerge out the void and shape becomes evident, providing unity throughout the piece. Heavy on atmosphere, rhythm driven. Pulsing, but never loud.

Gate & Stairs

Built around a very singable piano melody, "Gate & Stairs" builds into a triumphant but delicate crescendo, inviting the listener into an expression of joy mixed with tension. Distinct A, B, and C sections for multiple uses as one piece or as several different pieces. Piano and rhythmically driven.

Adopted

"Adopted" was written as a custom piece to a short film by filmmaker Jeremy Rodgers, documenting a family's adoption of a son from Haiti, and the journey of his homecoming. It has many rises and falls, slowly building towards a huge climatic ending with marching snare drums, crashing cymbals, and a booming kick. Piano-driven, no percussion until the end.
